針灸簡史 A Brief History of Acupuncture

Acupuncture therapy is a distinct traditional Chinese medical practice with a lengthy history. Acupuncture therapy is a mixture of two different treatment methods: "Acupuncture" and "Moxibustion".

Acupuncture first appeared between 10,000 to 4,000 years ago, during the Neolithic Age. Bian-stone was employed as a therapeutic tool by the ancients. The original acupuncture and cutting tool is bian-stone. Some portions of the body can be eased when people have varied pains and discomforts and are periodically hit or penetrated by sharp items such as stones, thorns, and so on. The pain will be relieved if the affected area is pierced and then bleeds or the disappearance phenomena. Since then, people have consciously used sharp stones as a tool to treat pain and discomfort, and to prick blood for themselves or others. After the Bronze Age entered the Stone Age, metal needles were created instead of meteorites, such as bronze needles, iron needles, gold needles, and silver needles etc. Medical professionals from different eras have examined, analyzed, and summarized it to develop the current version of the meridian theory. With the improvement of acupuncture instruments, various acupuncture instruments have also been derived, such as filiform needles, pricking needles, Stainless steel needles such as Qixing needles are used for different acupuncture treatments.
